Imam Hussain Foundation

Imam Hussain Foundation's Hawza was established in January 2006, with opening ceremonies taking place on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadeer 1426H out of the needs of the increasing Muslim population in North America and the growing, urgent demand for more Islamic scholars. Hundreds of Islamic centers and mosques are in need of clergymen (ulama) who can provide sound Islamic guidance. The need is particularity great for ulama who are able to speak English and French. Factors such as these necessitated the establishment of an Islamic Hawza.

In our endeavor to forge clergymen (ulama) who provide proper religious education and guidance to the Muslim community, I.H.F. has implimented a syllabus of Islamic courses with Arabic as the medium of instruction. The subject matter and curriculum are similar to that of hawzas in Najaf and Qum. Additional subjects addressing the needs of North American society have also been incorporated into the curriculum.

By welcoming individuals interested in Islamic studies, the hawza provides an alternative to the dilemma of having to migrate to Iraq or Iran while in pursuit of such praise-worthy desires.
